Youths participating in the #EndSARS protests on Thursday, 15th October, took their protests to the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The youths, numbering over 1,000 stormed the gate of the National Assembly, forcing security operatives at the gate to quickly shut the gate.

Though prevented from gaining entrance, as at the time of filing this report, the protesters remained at the gate, and staff and visitors have been stopped from gaining entrance.

Lawmakers and some staff were forced to use the Presidency and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) gates to gain entrance to the National Assembly Complex.

The youths bearing placards with various inscriptions, remain at the gate chanting solidarity songs and are been entertained with music by some local singers.

Meanwhile, Naija News reports the Nigerian Senate has promised that it will ensure that all five demands presented to the executive by the #EndSARS protesters are implemented.

The assurance was given by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, during the plenary on Thursday, October 15.

Lawan made this known after the upper chamber was briefed by the Senate Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi on the intervention by the leadership to calm and take necessary measures over the continued protest by Nigerian youths.

The leader admitted that the demands by the protesters are legitimate and that the assembly would prevail on the Executive arm of government to ensure compliance.

He, however, pleaded with the protesters to return to their various homes while the government works on the implementation of their demands.
