Kyari, Monguno In Attendance As Buhari Presides Over FEC

The National Executive Council (NEC) has approved an additional N8 billion for the dualisation of the Wudil-Shuwarin road from Kano to Shuwarin.

The funds will allow for the continued expansion of the 560-kilometre Kano-Maiduguri two-lane highway.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said the session approved the request for “an additional N8 billion” submitted by the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola.

He said the session, which was chaired by President Buhari, also approved the expenditure of N22.25 billion for the rehabilitation of the second section of the 8.1-kilometre Apapa-Oworonsoki-Ojota road.

“You will recall that in 2018, the Federal Government approved an award of a contract to Dangote Industry for the sum of N72 billion.

“With the construction of the Oworonsoki project coming to an end, it now makes better sense to include that section which was fairly good,” he said.

He explained that “the road will be built by Dangote and the money will be deducted over the years from the cost to the government.”
