Presidential candidate for Kowa Party in Nigeria’s 2015 Elections, Rt Prof. Remi Sonaiya, has condemned President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration for coming up with a new police unit, barely two days after dissolving of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

According to Sonaiya in a post on her verified Twitter account on Tuesday, October, people are bound not to believe the government’s good intentions for coming up with such development when the citizens are still clamouring for good reform of the police system.

Naija News understands that Sonaiya’s reaction was coming after the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, on Tuesday set up a new tactical unit to replace the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

In a statement by the Force spokesman, Frank Mba, the new unit is named Special Weapons and Tactics Team – (SWAT). The development has since stirred up reactions among Nigerians, Naija News understands.

Reacting, Sonaiya who believed that coming up with SWAT was to close to the #ENDSARS tweeted; “We need leaders in this country. And good advisors. Just can’t figure out how/why you’d think it okay to come up with #SWAT barely two days after scrapping #SARS. Nobody does that. People are bound to not believe you have good intentions. This is so elementary! @PoliceNG”.
