Tragedy As Two Boys Drown While Trying To Recover Friend's Shoes In Jos Dam

The Commissioner of the Nigeria Police Police Force, Akwa Ibom State Command, Amiengheme Andrew, has commiserated with the family of officers who lost their children in what has been described as a tragic event.

The CP’s condolence message was delivered following reports that three children of police officers drowned away in a pool of water at the Eket barracks in the state, Naija News understands.

One of the family members of the victims who pleaded anonymity told newsmen that the incident happened on Tuesday, October 13 and that the children were aged between 5 and 7.

Speaking to reporters on the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Odiko Macdon, said the incident was “painful and shocking.”

According to Macdon, the Police Commissioner received the news of the horrible incident with big shock and disbelief.

“The three of them were children of two serving police inspectors in Eket division, we commiserate with the families, it is indeed painful,” he said.

“We understand that the pool of water is used for erosion control, it is more painful because this is preventable.”

Macdon urged officers residing in Eket barracks to be more watchful of their surrounding to avoid such tragic occurrences, saying, “We should keep an eye on the welfare of our family members, they are the reason we work.”

In another news, Naija News reported that two pregnant women and three children have been rescued by Police in Cross River State at Obot Udonna Village in Akampka Local Government Area of the state.
