Thousands of protesters on Tuesday, ignored the directive by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike who placed a ban on the #EndSARS protests in the State.

The protesters on Tuesday morning took to the streets of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital in continuation of the nationwide protests against extrajudicial killings, extortions, and all forms of brutality by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

Naija News understands the protesters converged opposite Pleasure Park, Port Harcourt, as early as 8.45 am to resume the protest.

The youths insisted the Governor had no right to ban their protests, they blocked the busy Aba road, causing heavy traffic gridlock for road users.

Some of the placards carried by the protesters carried inscriptions and chanted lines such as “EndSARS”, “We are tired of dying”, and “Protest is our right” among others.

It will be recalled Governor Wike had on Monday evening, issued a statement in which he banned #EndSARS protests in the State.

Wike in his argument noted that the protests had become unnecessary as the Inspector-General had already dissolved the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
