Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, on Monday noted that the President does not need to sign an Executive Order disbanding the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

The Presidential aide who took to his Twitter account noted that the arms of the Nigerian Police is an administrative creation of the Inspector-General of Police and not created by an executive order or legislative act.

Ahmad further stated that the IGP, Mohammed Adamu has power to disband SARS and has taken the decision.

He wrote, “The defunct SARS was a unit of the Police. It was an administrative creation of the IG of Police, not created by any executive order or legislative act.”

“We actually don’t need an executive order to fully disband the unit when the IGP with full authority has already disbanded it.”
