#OndoDecides2020: APC Reacts To Akeredolu’s Victory

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appreciated the people of Ondo State for re-electing Governor Rotimi Akeredolu in the election which held on Saturday, 10th October 2020.

The APC noted that the people made the right choice in voting for the party’s candidate and assured that good governance, industrialization, security, empowerment, and general welfare of the state will continue to be the guiding principles of the administration.

Naija News earlier reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, announced the incumbent Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the 2020 Ondo State governorship election.

The incumbent Governor Akeredolu, won 15 of the 18 Local Government Areas where the election took place.

Prof Idowu Olayinka, the INEC Returning Officer, declared Governor Akeredolu the winner Ondo 2020 governorship election with 292,830.

On the other hand, Eyitayo Jegede, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 195,791 while Ondo Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) scored 69,127 votes.

Reacting to the results declared, the APC in a statement on Sunday by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena commended the people of Ondo for re-electing Akeredolu and called on other candidates to join hands with him in moving the state forward.

The statement reads: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) thanks the people of Ondo State for coming out en masse to reelect H.E. Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, incumbent Governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Saturday’s Ondo State Governorship election.

As a Party, while we thank the Ondo electorate for voting for good governance, industrialization, security, empowerment, and general welfare of the state, we will continue to advocate for and support safe, free, and credible elections that guarantee that valid votes count and the people will prevail.

The APC particularly thanks President Muhammadu Buhari as leader of the Party and Governor Mai Mala Buni as Chairman of the Party’s Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee for rallying our supporters, members, and leaders, particularly our governors in total support of our governorship candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu.

We also recognize and appreciate the tireless efforts of the Ondo State APC Reconciliation Committee chaired by the Governor of Niger State, H.E. Abubakar Sani Bello, and the APC Ondo State Governorship National Campaign Council chaired by the Governor of Lagos State, H.E. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Governor Akeredolu’s reelection is indeed a testament to the inclusiveness, genuine reconciliation, and peace the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led APC Caretaker Committee has ensured among party ranks in Ondo State, other chapters, and the Party in general.

The election is concluded, the people have decided and there is no vanquished. We seek general support for Governor Akeredolu as he continues his work to return the Sunshine State to its deserved and progressive standing among states in the country.”
