Hundreds of youths(protesters) met their shock today as rather than get a chance to speak with the Inspector-general, Mohammed Adamu as requested, they were sprayed with teargas instead.
The police fired teargas canisters at hundreds of youth who converged on the force headquarters to protest brutality and intimidation by the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).
The protesters were said to have turned deaf ears on all plea rendered by the police, as they vowed to spend the night until they bid was granted.
The protesters had brought foods and drinks in preparation for the overnight activity.
However, they ran for safety as soon as the police started to spray teargas canisters.
It was learnt that some of them were reportedly arrested and manhandled by the officers.
