Thief Breaks Into NASS Complex, Steals Lawmaker’s US Dollars, Other Valuable Items

Some valuable office equipments, including computer devices and gadgets has been stolen from the complex of the National Assembly in Abuja, Naija News learnt.

According to reports, the criminal act was done by one Kabiru who outsmart the security checks at the NASS building and made his way into the office of a member of the lower chamber of the assembly where he packed away some United States currency among other items.

It was reported that the suspect was a Special Assistant to one lawmaker from Adamawa State and was known by many people in the complex which made it easy for him to carry out the operation without been noticed on time.

Naija News understands that the incident happened on Friday, October 9 at about 2:30pm. SaharaReporters reported that Kabiru sneaked into another lawmaker’s office located on the fourth floor of the Assembly complex using a master key.

The suspect was apprehended after he was identified by security operatives who analysed the footage. Kabiru’s arrest was witnessed by some lawmakers including Chairman, House Committee on Media and Publicity, Benjamin Kalu, security personnel who were all at the ground floor of the complex where the suspect was being paraded.

Further findings, however, revealed that there was calls from the boss of the suspect to release him and sweep the case under the carpet.

Meanwhile, Kabiru was said to have confessed to the crime in a video which was leaked to reporters.

In another news earlier, a man was arrested with 30 fake NSCDC employment letter in Nasarawa State, Naija News reports.
