Ondo: I Tarred The Road Leading To Your House – Gov. Akeredolu Tells PDP Candidate, Jegede

Two governorship candidates in the scheduled October 10 governorship election in Ondo State, traded words when they met on Wednesday during an election debate ahead of the Saturday election.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Barrister Tayo Jegede, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) attempted to convince the electorate on why they each qualify to get the people’s votes.

The debate was organized by Channels TV.

During the session, Governor Akeredolu asked his counterpart at the debate, Jegede if he had noticed the impact of good governance by his administration after touring the state.

He urged him to answer the question truthfully.

In his response, Jegede noted that he hasn’t seen enough and went ahead to list some areas in the state which lacked developmental projects.

However, while the PDP candidate was still speaking, the Governor interjected and started listing some of the areas where his administration had left remarkable footprints in terms of developmental projects.

He then mentioned that even the road that leads to Jegede’s house was constructed by his administration. The claim wasn’t refuted by the PDP candidate but he told the Governor that he did the road because some of the officials in his government including his SA infrastructure and a Permanent Secretary live on that road.

Jegede went ahead to say he would finish the projects started by Akeredolu with which he was currently boasting.

Meanwhile, candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Agboola Ajayi who was absent at the debate has explained why he missed the event.

In his explanation, Ajayi narrated in a statement on Tuesday personally signed by him, that he won’t participate in the election debate due to campaign commitment.
