2023 Elections Broke A Lot Of Trust - Okonjo-Iweala

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has reacted as she emerged as one of the two finalists for the World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General job.

Iweala, a former Minister of finance in Nigeria acknowledged that the feat would not have been possible without the support of all Nigerians and friends around the world.

As earlier reported by Naija News, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has confirmed that Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has emerged as one of the two final candidates for the position of Director-General in the organization.

Yoo Myung-hee of the Republic of Korea was also confirmed as the second candidate for the top job after a shortlist of five candidates hoping for the job were further reduced to two candidates.

Recall that a total of eight candidates were in the running for the job before they were screened down to five and now the final two candidates have emerged.

Reacting to the latest development, Okonjo-Iweala in a tweet on her Twitter page, said she is happy to be in the final round. She appreciated Nigerians, friends around the world and President Muhammadu Buhari for their support so far.

She wrote: “Happy to be in the final round of the @wto DG campaign. Thanks, WTO members for your continued support of my candidacy. I could not have made it without the prayers and support of all Nigerians and friends around the world. Thank you @MBuhari and all my friends. Aluta continua!”

It is expected that the next WTO DG will be announced on November 7, 2020.
