A total of 5,664 teachers fired by the Abia State government have threatened to sue her if she is not reinstated.

The teachers’ lawyers on Wednesday wrote a letter to the state Secondary Education Management Board stating their intention to file a lawsuit if teachers are not reinstated without paying their dues.

Their lawyers say they have never been paid since they were hired in 2019 and deployed to places of primary assignment.

“The purported termination of our clients’ employment was made ultra vires and is null and void and of no consequent effect ab initio having been made without due reference to Abia State Government Public Service Rules and relevant provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended,” the lawyers were quoted as saying.
