5 Key Arsenal Players That Will Miss Carabao Cup Clash Against Liverpool

Arsenal will take on Liverpool at the Anfield Stadium on Thursday evening in the fourth round clash of the Carabao Cup tournament.

The Gunners will however be without some of their key players due to injury as confirmed in a club statement on Wednesday.

The kick-off time for the match is 7: 45 pm.

The players that will not be making the squad due to injuries are Gabriel Martinelli, Calum Chambers, Pablo Mari, Shkodran Mustafi, and Emile Smith Rowe as all of them remain on the treatment table.

The Gunners statement read in part: “Calum Chambers – Left knee. Ruptured anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee against Chelsea on December 29. Aiming to be back in full training with the squad after the October international break.

“Shkodran Mustafi – Right hamstring sustained during FA Cup semi-final on July 18. Aiming to be back in full training with the squad after the October international break.

“Emile Smith Rowe – Sustained an injury to his right shoulder in training. Now integrating back into training with the first-team squad.

“Pablo Mari – Left ankle. Sustained significant sprain to ankle ligaments against Manchester City on June 17. Aiming to return to full training within the next two weeks.

“Gabriel Martinelli – Left knee. Sustained injury during training on June 21. Successful arthroscopic procedure undertaken to repair a lesion in the cartilage of the left knee. Aiming to return to full training by the end of the calendar year.”

Naija News recalls Liverpool defeated Arsenal by three goals to one in their Premier League encounter on Monday and the Gunners will be hoping for better results when they file out against the reds again on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, this online news platform also earlier reported that Liverpool will also be without three key players for the match against Arsenal.

The club confirmed that skipper Jordan Henderson, Joel Matip, and Kostas Tsimikas will not feature in the Carabao Cup game on Thursday due to injuries.
