The Election Petition Tribunal has sacked an All Progressives Congress lawmaker Patigi State Constituency in Kwara State House of Assembly, Ahmed Rufai.

The tribunal in its ruling on Monday, sacked Rufai on three grounds of certificates forgery, inconsistency in names and age falsification.

The tribunal, therefore, declared the Peoples Democratic Party, candidate, Sahihu Mohammed Yahaya, winner of the Patigi State Constituency Bye-Election held on March 14, 2020.

Yahaya and his party had challenged Rufai’s victory at the tribunal. The petitioners had filed a petition on five grounds but the three judges agreed to three grounds.

Rufai before the election had denied forging his WAEC Certificate. He made the clarification when featured on a radio program on 22nd February 2020.

He said he wrote NECO and WAEC respectively and categorically stated that he forged no certificate.
