Former Chief Judge, Atiku Is Dead

Former Kano State Chief Judge, Justice Shehu Atiku, is dead.

Baba Jibo Ibrahim, Kano Judiciary spokesman, confirmed his death in a statement today.

He said the Chief Judge died following a brief illness.

It is expected that the late Justice Atiku would be buried later this morning around 11am at his residence.

Late Atiku was famously known for his role in the failed banks tribunal in which he was uncompromising despite various attempts to bribe him.

Also, he was said to have refused to yield to various threats he faced while sticking to his duty and diligently adjudicated on cases brought before the tribunal over which he presided.

He retired from the bench in 2015 as the Chief Judge of Kano State.
