Suspected Fulani Herders Kill Five Persons At Governor Ortom’s Village

Suspected Fulani herdsmen reportedly stormed Governor Samuel Ortom’s village in Tse-Apera, Nzorov District under Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, and shot dead five persons.

According to the report reaching Naija News at this time, the attack which claimed no less than five lives happened on Sunday, 20th of September, 2020.

Giving details on the incident, a resident of the community who gave his name as Tertsea Ator, confirmed to newsmen in Makurdi that the suspected herders murdered five persons and left many villagers with severe injuries.

According to Ator, “For the people who had not woken up, they knocked at their doors; when they woke up, they were shot. On the spot, they killed two; one of them was beheaded and eight others injured.”

The source revealed further that those who were injured in the attack has been taken to Teaching Hospital and two to General Hospital in Gbamjimba, while one who was taken to the Teaching Hospital, died on Monday morning, September 21.

Ator when asked how he knew that the attackers were Fulani, noted that he had them talking in their language when they were roaming around the village.

He, however, confirmed that no house was set on fire during the attack. On his part, Chairman of Guma Local Government, Caleb Aba, who also confirmed the incident, noted that the attack happened around 5 am on Sunday when the armed herdsmen invaded the village (Tse Apera) and shot at the people that came out of their houses.

Meanwhile, Naija News reported earlier that a heavily pregnant woman has been kidnapped by yet to be identified gunmen in Nasarawa State.
