1. Allow Peace In Southern Kaduna – Buhari Tells Kaduna Indigenes

President Muhammadu Buhari has made a fresh appeal to all stakeholders to allow peace in the Southern Kaduna region and the entire Kaduna State.

The President according to a statement on Monday by Femi Adesina, his Special Adviser on Media and publicity, noted that peace will guarantee growth, investment, and development in the State and therefore called on the indigenes to embrace peace.

Buhari made the call in his speech at the virtual opening of the Fifth Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit, with the theme KADInvest 5.0, Infrastructure, Industrialisation, and Innovation.

In his words, the people must learn to live together peaceably if they want to witness growth and economic development.

2. Tinubu Denies Speaking On Edo Governorship Election Result

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has denied releasing any statement on the outcome of the September 19 governorship election in Edo State.

Tinubu’s media aide, Tunde Rahman in a statement on Monday, urged members of the public to disregard a statement making rounds on social media credited to his principal on the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election.

Rahman stated that his boss is not known to rush to issue statements and at the right time, Asiwaju will speak on the Edo governorship election.

He said: “Please disregard any post to the effect that His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has spoken on the Edo elections. The said statement is a fake one. It’s the antic of social media merchants of fake and unsubstantiated statements. It did not come from Asiwaju. Those who know Asiwaju would recall that it’s not in his character to rush to issue statements. At the appropriate time, His Excellency Asiwaju will speak on the Edo election. Thank you.”

3. N75bn For Nigerians: FG Opens Portal For Registration

The Federal Government on Monday disclosed that the portal for the registration of prospective beneficiaries for the Survival Fund will be opened today.

The fund is a conditional grant to support vulnerable Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in meeting their payroll obligations and safeguard jobs losses.

President Muhammadu Buhari-led government also released the timetable for categories of businesses to register.

The Project Delivery Office in a statement released stated that the portal opens at 10pm on Monday.

Educational institutions are the first category of beneficiaries to register.

4. AIB Releases Report On Lagos Helicopter Crash

The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has released the preliminary report of the accident involving a Bell 206B Helicopter operated by Quorum Aviation Limited which crashed into residential buildings in Opebi area of Lagos.

According to the AIB report the helicopter had no fuel left in the fuel tanks after the crash.

Though the report indicated that the chopper was fitted with a long range extender fuel system, it, however, did not have capacity for fuel jettison.

Experts say the chopper could have crashed on account of inadequate fuel that could not get it two minutes away to the Lagos Airport.

According to the AIB, the chopper which took off from Port Harcourt at 9.20 am estimated to land in Lagos after two hours forty minutes crashed into residential building at 12.14 pm.

The report indicated that though the chopper was topped to full tank capacity on August 27, 2020 it failed to make it to the Lagos Airport a minute before the estimated time.

5. Kaduna: Nigerians Think Governors Are Thieves – El-Rufai

According to Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State on Monday, September 21, while speaking in a live chat aired on Channels Television, many citizens of Nigeria have this belief that all governors are corrupt.

The governor while explaining a few of the challenges been faced by most state governors in their respective states noted that they (the governors) have a very negative image out there.

El-Rufai said that governors are the most suspected elected government officials in the country, adding that they also have the most difficult jobs in the world.

The governor whose state has been labelled as the home of bandits and incessant killings lamented that many governors came into power at a period when oil prices had crashed.

6. ‘There No More APC, What We Have Is Respect For Buhari’ – Okorocha

The lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial district, Rochas Okorocha, has congratulated the people of Edo State for fighting against alleged injustice in the September 19 election.

The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Godwin Obaseki was declared as winner in the electoral process.

The former Imo State Governor described the loss suffered by the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a “revolution of the masses against injustice”.

He further stated that the respect for President Muhamamadu Buhari is all the party had left.

7. Gov. Wike Reacts To Alleged Killing Of Young Nigerian By SARS In Port Harcourt

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has reacted to the unjust killing of a young man in Port Harcourt, over refusal to unlock his phone.

Recall earlier, it was reported by NaijaNews that a yet-to-be identified young man was confirmed dead in Woji, Port Harcourt after he was allegedly shot four times by officials of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Reports have it that the man was killed for refusing to unlock his phone when the police made attempts to search it.

Reacting in a tweet, Wike described the killing of the man as unacceptable, adding that they would continue to clamour for the outright dissolution of SARS, as they have become a societal menace.

8. Surrender Within 14 Days – Police Tell Members Of Killed Bobosky Gang

The Rivers State Police Command has told gang members of the slain cult leader, Bobosky to surrender and lay down their weapons within 14 days.

Police urged all known and unknown gang members as well as other associates of Honest Diigbara, popularly known as Bobosky of Gokana to surrender their arms within 14 days.

The ultimatum was handed down by the Divisional Police Officers of Bori, Khana LGA, Bako Amgbashim, and his Kpor, Gokana LGA counterpart, Bleise Etete, during a town hall meeting with the people of Nweol in Gokana Local Government Area of the state.

“We are committed to ending cultism and all forms of criminality in Ogoni. All those who are members of Boboski’s gang and his friends have been warned.

“We will come after you because there is no hiding place for the wicked. Let them surrender their arms within the 14-day window or face the full wrath of the law,” Amgbashim stated.

9. Edo Election Result: APC Will Win In Court – Says Gov Uzodimma As He Rejects Obaseki’s Win

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has alleged that Edo State governorship election was marred by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

According to the governor in a statement by his Chief of Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku, the All Progressive Congress is already putting together pieces of evidence to proceed to the Election Petition Tribunal to challenge Governor Godwin Obaseki’s victory, with confidence that it will get justice.

Uzodinma accused the Nigerian electoral body of sabotaging the Saturday, September 19 polls, making it difficult for the All Progressive Congress votes to count for its candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

He further described the conduct of exercise by INEC officials in Edo as ‘shameful’.

10. CBN Probes 71 Companies Over Forex Deals

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has commenced an investigation into companies involved in illegal foreign exchange transactions.

Naija News reports that a total of 71 companies from different sectors – healthcare, food manufacturing, agriculture, oil and gas, energy, financial services and trading – are in check for alleged infractions and contravention of extant foreign exchange laws and rules.

According to reports, the CBN discovered that some of the companies used black markets to source for forex instead of banks.

The apex bank is working to uncover possible cases of illegal transactions, terrorism funding, money laundering, under declaration, among others.
