Nigerian Lawmaker representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Oloye Akin Alabi, has condemned the new policy by the federal government of Nigeria to mandate every person holding accounts across financial institutions and insurance firms to complete and submit Self-certification forms.

The Nigerian politician and businessman on Friday morning, September 18, took to his Twitter account to condemn the policy approved by President Muhammadu Buhari‘s led government.

Naija News understands that most citizens have lamented over the order by the federal government to visit bank halls to fill the self-certification forms, noting that it could be attached to their database to enable account holders to fill it online without having to queue up for hours.

Others also alleged that the policy is a way of mandating citizens to pay unnecessary tax without their consent.

Reacting to the policy, Akin Alabi said policies should at this time be ‘made to make life better for people and not stress them’. The lawmaker declared his interest to raise a motion for the suspension and review of the policy when the house resumes.

He tweeted; “This has been RIGHTFULLY condemned. Policies, especially at this period, should be made to make life better for people and not stress them. When the house resumes in two weeks, I will be raising a motion to suspend and review this.”
