El-Rufai Approves Castration As New Purnishment For Rapist In Kaduna

aduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai has signed into law the Penal Code 2020, which recommends castration of child rapists.

A statement on the official Twitter handle of el-Rufai @GovKaduna, declared any male found to have raped a child will henceforth be castrated while female convicts will undergo “bilateral salpingectomy.”

Naija news recalls that the Kaduna state House of Assembly gave the approval  for following the passage of a bill to amend the Kaduna state penal court law, 2017, by the lawmakers on Thursday, September 10.

earlier in July, Nasir El-Eufai, the state governor had said that rapists will no longer be granted bail by the justice system of the state.

He made this known when some groups who advocated for justice for rape victims, staged a peaceful rally at the government house in Kaduna. According to Governor El-Rufai,

“In addition to life imprisonment or 21 years’ imprisonment, anyone convicted of rape will have his organ surgically removed so that even after he finishes his term, he will not be able to rape anyone again,” the governor had said.

So long as the tool exists, there is the likelihood that he may go back to do it again. Most of the perpetrators are young people, so even after 21 years, they can come back and continue.” he said
