Four FRSC Officers Rescued From Kidnappers, Six Others Still In Hostage

Four out of ten officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps reportedly kidnapped on Monday, September 14 have regained their freedom from their abductors.

Confirming their release to newsmen on Tuesday (today), ACM Bisi Kazeem, the Corps Public Education Officer noted that the four personnel were rescued with the help of other security agencies.

Naija News understands that the unknown gunmen on Monday, attacked 26 personnel of the FRSC while travelling through Sokoto and Kebbi States Command for a training programme at FRSC Academy, Udi. Two out of the said numbers of corps were reportedly killed, six injured, eight escaped the attack unhurt while 10 others were whisked away by the gunmen.

However, Kazeem, in his report on Tuesday noted that four out of the kidnapped corps have been rescued while seven of the attacked personnel were currently receiving treatment in Abuja. “Two died on Monday. Presently, seven officers are receiving treatment in Abuja,” he said.

On his part, while reacting to the incident, the FRSC Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, described the attack as unfortunate. He, however, expressed sympathy over the death of the two personnel of the corps that were killed.

He urged the staff not to be deterred by the loss, but be propelled to put in extra effort in selfless service to the nation as a mark of honour to the deceased.

The Corps PEO explained that the deceased will be buried according to their religion, adding that necessary arrangements had been made concerning their funerals.

In another news earlier, Naija News reported that a retired United States of America army general, Major Jide Ijadare, has been whisked away alongside another person by some armed men suspected to be kidnappers in Ekiti State.
