Troops Neutralizes Scores Of Bandits In Zamfara Communities

The Nigerian Military has revealed that troops of the Operation Sahel Sanity have arrested a major illegal arms dealer who specializes in getting arms for bandits.

The Military authorities made this known in a statement on Monday by Brigadier-General Benard Onyeuko, Acting Director Defence Media Operations.

The statement from the Defence Headquarters noted that the troops acted on credible intelligence which eventually resulted in the arrest of the illegal arms supplier named Usman Ibrahim from Ryom in Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State.

The Military noted that the arrested suspect is a major illegal arms dealer supplying bandits in the North-West.

The Military statement said: “On 10 September 2020, troops acting on actionable intelligence arrested one illegal arms supplier named Usman Ibrahim from Ryom in Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State. The suspect was arrested with 890 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition carefully concealed in his vehicle. Other items recovered from him include, 1 Jack knife, 1 Pistol Grip, a Nigerian Police ID card and the sum of Two Million Two Hundred and Thirty Naira (#2,230,000). Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a major illegal arms dealer supplying bandits in the North-West.”

The information was part of the update given by the Defence Headquarters on the activities and operations of the troops between 30th August and 12th September, 2020.
