Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Abubakar Ashiru, 22, for allegedly engaged in sodomy in the state.
Reports had it that the suspect, a resident of Galadmchi Quarter in the state had carnal knowledge of two brothers who are aged eight and nine respectively. Naija News understands that the Ashiru’s arrest follows a report by the victims’ father, Hashimu Umar, who reported the incident at the Central Police Station, Katsina.
Umar reported that the suspect lured the young boys into his room, where perpetrated the act on July 13, 2020.
Speaking during a sitting at the Katsina Senior Magistrates’ Court where Ashiru was arraigned, the police prosecutor, Sergeant Lawal Bello, said the police command is still investigating the case and requested a new date when the case would come up for mention.
He revealed that the suspect has admitted to the devilish act during interrogation. A charge of unnatural offence has been slammed on the suspect contrary to Section 255 of the Katsina State Penal Code.
In her ruling, the presiding magistrate, Hajiya Fadile Dikko, granted the request and adjourned the case till October 7, 2020, for mention. Dikko ordered that the suspect should be remanded in police custody until the mentioned date.
