Niger State Govt Dismisses 80 Civil Servants, Explains Why

The Niger State Government has relieved eighty (80) civil servants in the state of their duty for allegedly placing themselves on salaries above their current status.

The development was disclosed on Thursday, September 10 by Hajiya Salamatu Abubakar, the state Head of Service, during a press conference in Minna, Naija News understands.

According to Abubakar, the termination of their appointments was approved by the State Executive Council at its meeting today. She noted that the people affected by the dismissal were uncovered by the salary committee earlier set up by the state Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello.

The Head of Service stated further that the report of the committee was submitted to the office of the head of the service which transmitted it to the Auditor General for further action. Hajiya Abubakar revealed that the dismissed officers were from the Ministries of Health and Education, as well as Hospital Services and Management Board and Primary Health Care Development Agency.

Others were from School of Health Technology, Tunga Magajiya, School of Midwifery, the High Court and Sharia Court of the state Judiciary.

Meanwhile, many shops and houses have been destroyed after a tanker loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) exploded in flames in Lambata town in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, Naija News reports.
