Fuel Price Hike: AAC Condemns Arrest Of Over 20 Members Of SPN And 4 Journalists In Lagos

The African Action Congress, AAC has condemned the arrest of some anti-fuel and electricity tariff hike protesters in Lagos State on Thursday, September 10.

Naija News had reported earlier that the protesters who took to the street to express their displeasure over the recent increase in petroleum price and electricity cost were arrested around the Ojuelegba area of Lagos.

The police reportedly arrested about 20 members of the Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN), four journalists of whom they also seized their equipment.

Reacting to the development in a tweet, AAC party, a political party chaired by Omoyele Sowore, a presidential candidate in the last general elections, condemned the arrest of the protesters and as well demand their immediate and unconditional release.

The tweet reads; “We condemned in totality the arrest of over 20 members of @SocialistPartyN including Journalists by @PoliceNG in Lagos today for protesting against hike in fuel, electricity tariff & other anti-people policies of @MBuhari regime & demand their immediate & unconditional release.”
