Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that Nigerians need to return to God in prayers over situations been faced in the country at the moment.

Speaking at during the opening ceremony of the 2nd Session of the 34th Synod of the Diocese of Lagos, Anglican Communion, on Monday, September 7, the governor noted that the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic shows how important it is to pray for Nigeria.

Governor Sanwo-Olu again admonished citizens to continue to adhere strictly to the already made available safety guidelines by the health agencies against the spread of the deadly pandemic.

He said, “COVID-19 has shown us in reality that we need to pray. We are not out of it yet, we need to continue to take precautions. Your prayers have really held us all together.”

Sanwo-Olu added, “The church has also participated in a series of activities during the lockdown, various donations have been given to the citizens and I thank all churches for these.

“This is a painful thing and as a government, we will continue to do what we need to do to keep life alive.”

Meanwhile, The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded one hundred and fifty-five new cases of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).
