1. President Buhari Travels Out Of Nigeria On Monday

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday, 7th Septemeber, depart Abuja, Nigeria for Niamey, Niger Republic for an ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government meeting.

This was disclosed on Sunday in a statement by Mallam Garba Shehu, the official spokesperson of the President.

Buhari will be accompanied to the summit by some Ministers and other top government officials and the president and his delegation are expected back in the country after the summit.

Issues expected to be discussed at the summit include the special report on COVID-19, special report on the ECOWAS single currency programme, the 2020 interim report on activities of the sub-regional body including ECOWAS Vision 2050, as well as issues surrounding the rise in incidents of terrorism, insurgency, and armed banditry in the region.

2. El-Rufai Reveals Those Who Can End Southern Kaduna Killings

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has called on religious leaders in the state to end the killings in Southern Kaduna.

El-Rufai believes their reckless statements is the root of the crisis.

The Kaduna State Governor stated this on Saturday, when the National Chairman of Jama’atul Izalatul Bid’ah wa Iqamatul Sunnah, Sheikh Abdullahi Lau and other Izala leaders paid him a visit.

The Governor noted that the Izala leaders came to be briefed on the security situation in Kaduna and that “they received briefings from the Commissioner of Internal Security as well as the Deputy Governor.”

3. Boko Haram Plotting Attacks In Abuja

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has revealed that Boko Haram terrorists are plotting to infiltrate and attack some locations in the nation’s capital, Abuja.

This was made known in a circular titled: “Re: Intelligence on national security”, signed by the Comptroller of Enforcement at the NCS headquarters, H. A. Sabo.

According to the circular, NCS Comptroller-General, retired Colonel Hameed Ali has been briefed on the Boko Haram threat.

Sabo listed five locations where Boko Haram members are hiding and planning the offensive on the Federal Capital Territory.

“Kunyam Bush along airport road off DIA Staff Quarters-Abuja; Robochi/Gwagwalada Forest; Kwaku forest, Kuje, Abuja; Unaisha forest in Toto Local Government of Nasarawa State and Gegu forest, close to Idu town in Kogi State.

4. Edo election: I’ll Bury Oshiomhole, We’ve Dealt With Him – Gov Obaseki

The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has revealed that he will politically bury the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, if he emerges winner of the September 19 electoral process.

The Edo State Governor stated this on Saturday during the closing moments of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, campaigns in Oredo local government.

The PDP governorship candidate noted that forthcoming poll is about contesting with Oshiomhole.

He accused the former Governor of disrespecting the people of Benin kingdom.

5. Coronavirus Will Not Come Near Children of God – Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has said coronavirus (COVID-19) will not come near childern of God.

Adeboye said this at the first Sunday Thanksgiving of the RCCG new year calendar, held at the headquarters in Lagos on Sunday.

He said God would turn down coronavirus, adding that no virus would come near the children of God.

“God will give us total victory on any virus. The Lord who has kept us to see September will keep us to see the new year,” he prayed.

6. Nigerian Military Reacts As Boko Haram Threatens Abuja Residents, Others

Residents of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, and other nearby states have been assured of total safety by the military following threats of attacks by the Boko Haram terrorist group.

The Defence Headquarters in a statement on Sunday by the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche said members of the public should go about their normal activities without fear.

The assurance given by the military follows a circular released by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) where it noted that the Boko Haram terrorists are plotting to infiltrate and attack some locations in the nation’s capital, Abuja.

The Customs had raised the alarm in a circular titled: “Re: Intelligence on national security”, signed by the Comptroller of Enforcement at the NCS headquarters, H. A. Sabo.

Reacting to the alarm, the Defence Headquarters has assured residents that the military and other security agencies are on red alert to ensure their safety.

7. APC Reveals Why Oshiomhole Was Sacked

The Federal High Court in Abuja has been told by the All Progressives Congress, that the former National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole and his committee was sacked to ensure an end to the party’s internal crises.

The party noted that the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee was to put in place to put the party back on track.

This was contained in its response to a lawsuit challenging the NWC dissolution instituted by a chieftain, Kalu Agu.

The party further stated that Agu’s court case was part of a plot to destabilize it.

8. Two Recreational Parks Reopen In Lagos

Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos State Government have reopened two of its recreational parks for public use.

This was made known in a statement on Sunday by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Lagos State Parks and Gardens, Mrs Titilayo Ajirotutu

According to Ajirotutu, visitors to the parks must comply with the subsisting COVID-19 protocols.

He stated that the reopened recreational facilities are the Ndubisi Kanu Park in Alausa and the Dr Abayomi Finnish Park in Oregun, Ikeja.

9. Notorious Political Thug Arrested In Edo

A notorious political thug popularly called ‘Holyman’ has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Army in Jattu town of Edo State.

Naija News reports that this is coming a few days before the Edo State Governorship election.

It was gathered that the political thug was arrested at Azama primary school in Jattu.

The arrest reportedly sparked jubilation among residents of the town.

10. #BBNaija2020: How Viewers Voted For Housemates In Sunday’s Eviction Show

The number of housemates remaining in the 2020 edition of the Big Brother Naija reality TV show has been further reduced on Sunday following the eviction of Lucy and Erica.

As previously reported by Naija News, Erica was disqualified and evicted from the show after getting her third and final strike from Biggie following her verbal attack on fellow housemate, Laycon.

After that, Lucy was also evicted during the Sunday live eviction show. She got the lowest votes from the viewers and was evicted from the lockdown house

Recall that Lucy was put up for eviction alongside Kiddwaya, Vee, Trikytee, Laycon and Nengi but she got the lowest vote from the viewers.
