Petrol Price Increase: Buhari Government Insensitive – Dino Melaye

Former Kogi Senator, Dino Melaye has reacted to the recent petrol price increase by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, describing the move as insensitive.

Naija News recalls the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC), on Wednesday, 2nd September 2020, released a memo where it revealed that the new depot price of petrol in Nigeria is N151.56 per litre.

The new price regime takes effect from September 2, 2020, the statement noted.

Subsequently, many petrol stations have adjusted their meters and are now selling to the public at an average of N160 per litre as observed by this correspondent.

Reacting to the new petrol price regime, Melaye described the price increase at a time that many Nigerians were grappling with economic issues occasioned by the global COVID-19 pandemic as “grossly insensitive and wicked by the government”

Melaye on his Twitter page wrote: “It is grossly insensitive, wicked and deliberately callous for Government to increase pump price of petrol in a time like this.”

“Men of good conscience will not watch the lives of Poor Nigerians taking for granted with outrageous ignominy by a stationary Government.”
