President Buhari Declares Nov 1 As National Youth Day

November 1 has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari as National Youth Day.

The development was disclosed on Wednesday morning, September 2 in a tweet by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare.

Dare revealed that President Buhari approved the date during the Federal Executive Council meeting today, noting that November 1 is now set aside yearly as National Youth Day.

Dare tweeted, “Today, President Buhari in Council approved November 1st every year as the National Youth Day to celebrate, draw attention to and find solutions to the issues that affect the Youth. Mr. President as again demonstrated his commitment to supporting youth-focused policies. Thank You.”

Naija News understands that the FEC virtual meeting was presided by President Buhari from the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja while some other ministers participated also from their offices virtually.

Also in attendance is the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

Meanwhile, the president of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Alhaji Yerima Shettima has declared earlier that Nigeria should consider competence ahead of zoning in the 2023 presidential election.
