The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the forthcoming Governorship election in Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki said President Muhammadu Buhari has given him assurance of a peaceful voting exercise come September 19.

Obaseki disclosed this while addressing members of the PDP during a campaign rally in Ovia South-West Local Government Area of the State during the last weekend.

The governor called on voters to come out en masse to cast their votes. He also called on the party faithful to come out without fear of harassment or intimidation by the opposition.

He boasted again that there will be peace in the State before, during and after the election.

He said, “President Buhari has assured me that the Edo election will be peaceful.”

“They are not more than us in number; vote and make sure your vote counts. Stay back in your polling units to ensure they count your vote in your presence,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of Chief Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation, Olarenwaju Kazeem has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
