A man whose identity is yet to be known has been found motionless by the rail line in the Ijora-Badia area of Lagos State.
The body of the deceased reportedly motionless and a bottle of a deadly insecticide he was suspected to have consumed was found along the rail line by men of the Lagos State Police Command.
According to the report, security agents, including neighbourhood guards and policemen attached to the Ijora Badia Police Division, were contacted to rescue the unknown man.
He was, however, declared dead by a doctor after the rescue team rushed him to a hospital for urgent treatment.
Speaking on the incident when contacted via phone call, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, noted that the victim was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead, adding that the corpse had been deposited in a mortuary for autopsy.
He said, “On August 1, 2020, around 9am, we received a piece of information that a male adult with no means of identification was found lying unconscious by the rail line in Ijora-Badia; an insecticide container was found on him, hence it was suspected that he fell into unconsciousness after consuming the substance in the container.
“He was immediately rushed by sympathisers to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His corpse has been deposited in a mortuary for autopsy; further developments will be communicated.”
Meanwhile, an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Delta State Command and a truck driver landed on a hospital bed following an attempt by the officer of the Nigeria paramilitary agency to arrest the driver.
According to reports, the FRSC officer, Mr C. U. Mgbede was beaten to a pulp by an angry mob for forcefully sending out the driver out of the moving truck and almost took his life.
