Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has declared that it will be a good thing for Lionel Messi to play in the English Premier League.

The Arsenal boss who spoke during a press conference on Thursday ahead of his club’s Community Shield clash with Liverpool on Saturday noted that Messi is welcomed in England.

Naija News recalls there have been speculations over where the talented player will be playing his club football next season after he told Barcelona he wants to leave this summer.

Several clubs including, Manchester City of England have been touted as the next destination for the 33-year-old Argentine player.

Adding his voice to the speculation that Messi may end up in the Premier League next season, Arteta submitted that the development will be good for football and everyone will enjoy it even if Messi plays against Arsenal.

“Let’s see what happens and if he comes to England, we are all going to enjoy it.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s against Arsenal. It’s good for football.

“If it’s not there we might find him in the Champions League,” Arteta told a press conference on Thursday.
