Breaking: 2020 WAEC Result Is Out (Check Your Result Here)

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has explained how some of its exam papers make it to the public and become ‘leaked question papers.’

Speaking on Wednesday during a monitoring visit to Federal Government Boys College, Apo, Abuja, Patrick Areghan, head of WAEC, Nigeria said some supervisors deployed from the Ministry of Education, snap the questions, and send them to some WhatsApp groups.

Areghan noted that the exam body itself has not directly experienced leakage of questions since 1977.

“As I speak with you, no single examination paper was leaked. WAEC has not experienced anything called leakage anymore since 1977,” he said as reported by NAN.

“What has been happening is [from] some so-called supervisors who the ministry of education reposes confidence in; selecting men and women of integrity and sending them to us to be engaged as supervisors.”

He also advocated that such unscrupulous officials are bad eggs within the system that must be fished out and dealt with.

Meanwhile, Naija News earlier reported that WAEC has declared that the exam scripts of students who have tested positive to the coronavirus infection will be taken by the examination body from the isolation centre and be put in a special bank designated for the purpose.

He assured that no candidate will miss his/her papers or be stigmatized for testing positive to COVID-19.

“I want to assure that anywhere we have COVID-19 candidate, we make sure that he or she writes the examinations. It is not a death sentence, there is no stigma.”

“We do not want anybody to miss the exams. It’s no fault of theirs. We can defeat this virus provided we take first-line responsibility,” he noted.
