Shuaib Gara-Gombe, a former Chairman of the Gombe State Football Association, has vowed to back Amaju Melvin Pinnick if he contests for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) presidency.

Naija News report that Pinnick is the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Africa football governing body, CAF, had announced November 24, 2020 as the deadline date for the submission of forms for the election.

Gara-Gombe said, “I wouldn’t say I’m impressed with the way things are with Nigerian football, but this is international politics that we are talking about here.

“Pinnick is a Nigerian and he is contesting against other Africans, I think it is important that we support him. Perhaps, that will make things better for Nigerian football.

“Pinnick winning a position in CAF can help trigger the change we’ve been looking for.

“There are so many other Nigerians who have gotten the backing of our people for international offices. We need to try and support our own because I believe it will be in the interest of Nigeria to have a Nigerian as President of CAF.”
