The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has reported three hundred and twenty-nine (329) new cases of COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria. The health agency confirmed on Friday night, August 14 confirmed the new cases in a tweet on its official account on the microblogging site, Twitter. The development brings the overall confirmed cases of the dreaded disease to 48,445 in Nigeria, Naija News understands.

2. Real Reason Buhari Suspended 12 EFCC Officials

The reason behind the suspension of 12 senior officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission by President Muhammadu Buhari has been revealed. The officials include the EFCC Executive Secretary, Olanipekun Olukoyede, in July suspended by Abubakar Malami, Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, on the orders of President Buhari.

UN Humanitarian Coordinator, Edward Kallon has noted that the security crisis in the Northeast of Nigeria calls for urgent support for victims of the attack. Kallon further stated that the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance in the region is the highest ever recorded in five years of a joint humanitarian response.
