Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has sent the names of 24 nominees to the state assembly for confirmation as commissioners.
Naija News reports that Diri was sworn in six months ago on February 14, 2020 following the Supreme Court judgement that declared him the winner of the Bayelsa election.
Governor Diri nominated only three men who served under the administration of former governor, Seriake Dickson.
The list was read on the floor of the house on Thursday by the Speaker, Abraham Ngobere.
The Bayelsa state assembly invited the nominees to appear before it on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 for screening.
The commissioner nominees are:
Maxuel Ebibai, who served under Dickson as commissioner for Finance; Hon. Boraladei Daniel Igali, who served as commissioner for Sports; and Dr Igwele Pabara Newton, who served as Commissioner for Health.
Others on the list are, Miss Preye Broderick, Mr Esua Andrew, Dr Ibiere Jones, Chief Thompson Amule, Miss Grace Ekiotene, Mr Stanley Braboke, Survey Moses Teibowei, Hon. Iselema Gbaranbiri, Chief David Alagoa, Mr Dambo Birigha (SAN) and Iti Orugbani.
Also on the list are Dr Promise Ekio, Mr Otikito Federal, Miss Faith Orubo Opuene, Mr Obosi Churson, Mr Seikumo Ekisah, Engr. Akpoebidei Alamieyesigha, Mr Rex Flint George, Mr Ebitein Tonyon, Mr Ayebaina Duba and Hon. Gentle Emelah.
