Borno Governor Appoints New Chief of Staff

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has approved the appointment of Professor Isa Hussaini Marte as his new Chief of Staff.

This was made known in a statement on Wednesday evening by the spokesperson of the governor, Mallam Isa Gusau.

Gusau said the new Chief of Staff, a serving commissioner in Zulum’s cabinet, is expected to handover to Dr Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe, whose new ministry will be Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.

He said: “Zulum’s choice of Marte is in recognition of his proven capacity, strong passion for development and unbending principles that align with the governor’s, and above all, his proven integrity.”

Marte is a Professor of Pharmacology with a specialty in cancer research.

The fellow of Nigerian Academy of Science will be sworn-in on Monday, August 17, 2020 by Zulum.

Naija News reports that Marte’s appointment will fill the vacuum left by the Governor’s late Chief of Staff, Dr. Babagana Wakil, who passed on July 1, 2020.
