Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, has called on the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government to investigate the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) a group headed by Prof. Ishaq Akintola.

Naija News reports that a former intelligence chief in Mali had accused MURIC of receiving $200,000 from the Islamic States In West Africa Province (ISWAP) for the recruitment of new fighters for the terrorist group.

But MURIC in a statement by its Director, Ishaq Akintola, on Tuesday, denied any links to ISWAP.

“It is a wicked concoction from the pit of Jahannam. We declare clearly, categorically that we have never had any contact with ISWAP or any other terrorist group.

“We remain committed to the unity and indivisibility of Nigeria,” the organization director said.

Reacting in a post on his Twitter page, Fani-Kayode called on the federal government to investigate the allegations against MURIC.

The former minister also stated that if the allegation was found to be true, then the federal government must ban and declare MURIC a terrorist organization.

Fani-Kayode wrote: “The allegation by a former Head of Intelligence in Mali that the Ishaq Akintola-led MURIC is funded by ISWAP is grave.

I call on the federal government to investigate this matter and if proved to be true, declare MURIC a terrorist organization, ban it, prosecute its leaders and if found guilty, hang them.”
