Black Lives Matter: Full Uncensored Video Of George Floyd’s Arrest Released To The Public

Barely three months after an African American, George Perry Floyd Jr. was murdered in Minneapolis for allegedly passing a counterfeit $20 bill, an uncessored video of the arrest that resulted in his death has been made available to the public domain.

Naija News recalls that Floy’d died shouting ‘I can breathe’ after a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, knelt on his neck for nearly eight minutes.

The incident which happened on May 25, 2020 sparked reactions and called for a mass protest across the world with the slogan ‘Black Lives Matter’. On Tuesday (today), August 11, a thirty minutes plus video taken from a body cam during Floyd’s arrest was released on the internet for public access.

Naija News understands that the video was initially made available to journalists and few members of the public, but has now been released for all following ruling by a Hennepin County judge.

According to Daily Mail, the 30 minutes footage was recovered from body cameras of Minneapolis officers, Thomas Lane and J. Kueng, who have been sacked from the police service following the incident.

The video revealed moment the Minneapolis officers arrived at the scene of the arrest after a complaint that Floyd had attempted to pass a fake $20 bill to buy cigarettes at Cup Foods, a store in the Powderhorn Park section of Minneapolis.

Naija News observed that a staff of the shop held in his hands the alleged fake banknotes, narrating to the officers of how Floyd attempted to settle a bill with the fake currency. “Before they drive off. He’s parked right here. It’s a fake bill from the gentleman,’ he tells the cops,” the staff told the policemen.

Lane and Kueng both went to Floyd’s blue Mercedes SUV across the street. Upon reaching the deceased’s vehicle, the police asked him (Floyd) to open the car to surrender himself for arrest. Meanwhile, in the car is his ex-girlfriend, Shawanda Hill, and a friend, Maurice Hall at the front also.

The officers went on to force Floyd out of the car and handcuffed him while they continued with interrogations. Terrified Floyd, repeatedly plead with the officers, “Please don’t shoot me, man,” a crying Floyd says. “I just lost my mom, man. I’m so sorry”

‘Put your f***ing hands up right now! Let me see your other hand,” the cop is heard saying to Floyd.

“Please don’t shoot me, man,’ a crying Floyd says. ‘I just lost my mom, man. I’m so sorry. I’m not that kind of guy,” Floyd reiterated.

However, the event led to Mr Floyd’s death after the one of the officers knelt on his, forcing him to prostrate.
