EFCC’s Witness’ Competence Stalls Adoke’s Trial

The trial of the  Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Mohammed Adoke has once again been adjourned.

Naija News  Understand that the Ex-AGF’s trial was stalled because the prosecutor failed to serve the defendants with the proof of evidence and statement of the witness.

Mr Adoke was arraigned on Tuesday, August 8, alongside an Abuja-based businessman, Aliyu Abubakar, before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The defendants had pleaded not guilty to a 14-count charge of money laundering filed against them during the last sitting.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had in June filed an additional seven charges against the former AGF over money laundering allegations involving about N400 million.

The former AGF’s trial which was meant to begin last week was stalled due to the amended charges.

As the trial resumed, the prosecutor, Bala Sanga, informed the court of an amended charge he filed on July 29 which was served on all the defendants.

Justice Ekwo frowned at the late filing of the amended charge and moved to adjourn the trial till Tuesday on the ground that he is yet to sight the amended charges.
