Court Orders Bayelsa PDP To Pay ‎₦105M Debt To Its Landlord

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP might be evicted from its Bayelsa Secretariat if it fails to pay its debt of ‎₦105 million accrued over a period of six years.

PDP’s landlord Mr Chubby Ben-Walson has demanded that party leaders pay its debt. Chubby Ben-Walson demanded that the Bayelsa branch of the PDP pay him the money before leaving the building for him.

According to a report published by Punch Ben-Walson said the PDP did not pay its rent for six years, and only sent him a letter saying it would vacate the house. The man said he had leased his six-storey building to the PDP since 2008.

On June 18, 2020, a high court sitting in Yenogoa ruled that the PDP should pay the landlord N105 million being the rent arrears owed by the party for six years.
