Agboola Backs Down, Agrees To Return Official Vehicles

The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi has officially resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) just 7 weeks after initially joining the party from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Agboola’s defection from the PDP was confirmed in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Allen Sowore.

The statement noted that the decision to dump the PDP is based on the need to respond to his people’s call to contest the 2020 governorship election in Ondo State.

Naija News recalls Agboola dumped the APC for the PDP in June 2020 and contested the party’s governorship primary election but lost the ticket to Eyitayo Jegede.

The Chairman of the PDP in Apoi Ward II of Ese-Odo Local Government Area, Festus Oboro has acknowledged receipt of Agboola’s resignation letter on the 9th of August, 2020.

The Deputy Governor in his letter thanked the national leadership and members of the PDP for their warm reception and acceptance in the short period he rejoined the party.

Ajayi is widely expected to join the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and contest the Ondo governorship election on the platform of the party.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed October 10 for the conduct of the governorship polls.
