Mr Cyril Omorogbe, on Saturday was appointed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Bayelsa.
The development was revealed by the INEC Head of Department, Voters Education, Mr. Winifred Ifougha, in a statement on Saturday in Yenagoa.
Ifougha in the statement also noted that Osaretin Imahiyereobo was also appointed as Administrative Secretary.
He further stated that Omorogbe has since resumed duties after conclusion of handing over formalities with his predecessor, Mr. Monday Tom on July 29.
According to him, the new administrative secretary, a director with the commission had also resumed duty.
”The administrative secretary formally took over from his predecessor, Mr. Edwin Enabor, who had proceeded on pre-retirement leave,” Ifougha said
