Just In: Top APC Chieftain Meets Obasanjo Behind Closed-doors

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter on the death of Senator Buruji Kashamu seems to have hurt many people, however, some people still support the former president.

In a statement issued by the former president’s spokesman, Kehinde Akinyemi’s he said that although death was unpleasant, Kashamu’s life and the history he left behind were a lesson to the people.

Kashamu died of Coronavirus on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at First Cardiology Consultants Hospital in Lagos, this was confirmed by his friend Senator Ben Murray Bruce.

According to Obasanjo, “Senator Buruji Kashamu in his lifetime used the manoeuvre of law and politics to escape from facing justice on alleged criminal offence in Nigeria and outside Nigeria,” Obasanjo said.

“But no legal, political, cultural, social, or even medical manoeuvre could stop the cold hand of death when the Creator of all of us decides that the time is up.” Obasanjo said.

How people reacted to Obasanjo’s letter

Former Ekiti governor Ayodele Fayose prayed for the former senator but expressed disappointment over Obasanjo’s announcement.

Many on social media have opposed Obasanjo’s remarks.

@OgbeniDipo said, “Even when his foes die, it appears Obasanjo doesn’t forgive.”

If this was from God, it’d have been very understandable. But it’s more disturbing to have these words come from a mere mortal. Baba, don’t worry, you’ll live forever.

However, there are those who share Obasanjo’s views

What Chief Olusegun Obasanjo said about Buruji Kashamu is absolutely the truth and it’s same for most corrupt Nigerian politicians.

Many of them used and maneuver of law and politics to escape from facing justice on alleged criminal offences, but they would not escape death.
