The incessant killing of Southern Kaduna has sparked up a protest, the protesters converged at Refinery Junction, Kaduna on Saturday to show their displeasure against the persistent loss of life.

Anti-riot Police officers led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Sabon Tasha, CSP Paul Timbushi were however deployed to disperse the protesters and maintain peace.

Mr Timbushi initially appealed to the angry protesters before they were dispersed. Majority of the resilient protesters, however, moved towards Sabon Tasha in large numbers to continue with the protest.

Some of the inscriptions on the protesters’ placards read, “end killings in Southern Kaduna”, “we cannot continue like this”, “Southern Kaduna lives matter”, “government has failed us”, “allow us to defend ourselves if you can’t” among others.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige released that some of the protesters were arrested because there was no prior notification about the protest.
“Some of them were arrested because they did not inform us about the profession. We just saw the crowd. I cannot tell you how many of them were picked now”, he said.
