The KWASU SU presidents said he showed the officer his student ID card to bail himself out of the awful experience but that the police officer showed no interest in checking the ID, as he was concerned about collecting money from him, even as far as trying to beat him with a stick.

Hanafy who shared a photo of the event alleged that the officer asked him for some money as a bribe to let him go, which he questioned why. He said the officer had accused him of being a scammer because of the expensive phone he was using.
