Controversial but popular Nigerian singer, Afeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley has spoken out after his recent encounter with the Nigerian Police Force.

Naija News recalls the singer was arrested and arraigned in Lagos State on Thursday the 6th of August because he contravened COVID-19 safety guidelines set by the Federal Government earlier this year.

The musician had been in the news in June for travelling to Abuja from Lagos with a private charter flight during COVID-19 lockdown to perform at a concert.

The concert which held at the Jabi Lake Mall on Saturday, June 13th, was in contravention of the COVID-19 Presidential Task Force directive on social gatherings.

The singer was arraigned before a Lagos court and was fined N100,000.

Barely 24 hours after his Lagos arraignment, he was again arraigned in Abuja by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on a four-count charge after performing in a concert in June at Jabi Lake Mall, Abuja, in clear violation of the presidential restriction on Interstate travels and public gatherings.

Naira Marley pleaded guilty to all the charges against him and was fined the sum of N200,000 by Magistrate Idayat Akanni.

After these experiences, the singer took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter where he declared that the Nigerian Police Force and himself are on good terms.

“Police is my friend. Naira Marley & Police 5&6,” Naira Marley tweeted.
