Feeling threatened again, hundreds of people from southern Kaduna State have begun fleeing their homes to seek refuge in other parts of the state. Luka Binniyat, the spokesman for the Southern Kaduna Community Association (SOKAPU), said he was concerned about the insecurity in his hometown, The Guardian reported.

According to Binniyat, SOKAPU now faces the challenge of taking care of the Hijra refugees who have been forced to flee their homes by militant attacks. Thirty-three people, mostly girls and children, have been killed in a fresh attack by gunmen in Atyap Emirate, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of ​​Kaduna State. But police say 21 people were killed.

The attacks took place at the same time between 11 pm on Wednesday and 1 pm in the villages of Apyiashyim, Atak’mawai, Kibori and Kurmin Masara in Atyap kingdom. Sources said that due to the heavy rains, the militants were able to stay afloat despite the state of emergency.

A statement issued by SOKAPU spokesman Luka Biniyat said 33 Atyap members were killed in five villages: Apiojyim, Kibori, Apiako, Atakmawe and Magamiya. He appealed to the international community to come to their aid.
