Bristow Helicopters Fire Over 100 Pilots, Engineers

Two days after the Bristow engaged in an administrative cold war, Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has successfully ended the faceoff between the two parties.

Naija News reported that the pilot’s body had on Wednesday threatened to ground the industry for two weeks should the company management refuse to recall the sacked pilots and engineers.

The management of Bristow Helicopters Limited on Tuesday said the decision to lay off about 100 pilots and engineers was because of plans to restructure the sector amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, in a fresh development, the industrial action by the National Association of Air Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) which was expected to paralyse the activities at Bristow Helicopters.has been suspended.

NAAPE President, Abednego Galadinma, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Lagos on Thursday.

Galadinma said the minister pleaded with the union to sheathe their swords, pending the determination of a meeting at the instance of the Ministry of Labour in Lagos today.
