The Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, on Thursday noted that the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, wanted him to help impeach the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Shaibu during an interview with newsmen noted that his loyalty to Governor Godwin Obaseki is unwavering.

The Deputy Governor noted that he pleaded with the former Governor of the state to let go of any grievance he had against Obaseki because the governor was doing well for the Edo People.

Shaibu noted that plea fell on deaf ears of the former National Chairman of the APC.

He revealed that on realizing that Oshiomhole was not ready to let go of his grievance against the Edo State Governor, he told him that he will stand with Obaseki come what may.

According to Philip Shaibu, the plan of the 17 lawmakers is to remove governor Obaseki at the onset and replace him with his deputy, but he said he refused, stating that it was not his “will nor nature” to betray.

Mr Shaibu recounted how he fought on Oshiomhole’s side, stressing that he hates and has been fighting against oppression, and will not stand for the form of oppression which Oshiomhole is championing.

He further stated that he would fight to the last point to ensure that his principal is defended, the same way he ended Oshiomhole when there were plots against him in Edo State.

He, however, challenged Oshiomhole to come and test his popularity when the votes are to be cast, claiming that the former chairman of the APC has lost his integrity and is no more the man of the people he once was perceived to be.
