Breaking: 12 Lawmakers Sworn In As Victor Edoror Emerges Speaker Of Edo House Of Assembly

Some members of the Edo State House of Assembly on Thursday elected Victor Edoror as the Speaker of the Assembly.

Following the impeachment of Yekini Idaiye as Deputy Speaker and the emergence of a new one, no fewer than 17 lawmakers declared Edoror speaker on Thursday.

Edo House Of Assembly Invasion: How Oshiomhole Tried To Impeach Obaseki – Adeyanju

Human rights activist, Comrade Deji Adeyanju has alleged that Thursday’s invasion of the Edo State House of Assembly by security operatives is linked to an attempt by Adams Oshiomhole to remove Governor Godwin Obaseki from office.

He alleged that Oshiomhole had planned to use the lawmakers to impeach Obaseki and also orchestrated the police invasion of the complex.

Federal Government Extends COVID-19 Lockdown

President Muhammadu Buhari led administration has announced an extension of the second phase of the eased lockdown for another four weeks. The extension is the third for the second phase.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 announced this during the Task Force briefing in Abuja.

INEC Launches Portal For Monitoring Result’s Live Transmission From Polling Units

A portal where election results from polling units can be viewed in real-time has been launched by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A statement released today by the Commission’s chairman, Festus Okoye noted that the portal will “strengthen the transparency in the election result management system.”

APC Appoints Acting Chairman In Akwa Ibom After Ini Okopido’s Death

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, has appointed Dr Ita Udosen, as the acting state chairman following the death of Ini Okopido.

Naija News had reported earlier that the Akwa Ibom APC Chairman died in the early hours of Wednesday at the Ibom Multispecialty Hospital (IBH), Uyo. The Akwa Ibom APC Chairman died of multiple organ failure.
